About the Event
Working with very sick and/or dying individuals is a privilege that not only takes someone with compassion, strength, and a big heart, but confidence, knowledge, and skills, as well. This comprehensive introductory class will help you to be mindful and present, self-aware, and skilled as you walk beside these unique individuals in their journey. Find out who the medically frail and the dying are – what they may be experiencing, how to listen and communicate with them, why most are touch-deprived, and what a gift it is to be invited into their sacred space.
The benefits of touch for emotional and physical pain and symptom management are taught in this two day course, as well as safety, gentle massage techniques, positioning, draping, and hands-on practice. Please bring writing materials to this class, as well as a set of sheets, a pair of shorts, and a tee shirt or tank top. Class size is limited.
